About Us

At BAP Acoustics, we put the client’s needs at the centre of everything we do. Our experts come into every project as true partners, working alongside your team to deliver solutions that are fully aligned with your objectives.

Experienced, innovative, flexible – BAP Acoustics is your partner for professional acoustic design solutions.

Who We Are

BAP Acoustics is the North American affiliate of Bickerdike Allen Partners, a leading acoustic consultancy practice that has been serving the United Kingdom from its London headquarters since 1962. BAP Acoustics has offices in Vancouver, BC. The firm is managed by founding partners Mark Gaudet, a former associate of Bickerdike Allen Partners, and Eric de Santis.

Our firm delivers industry-leading services and solutions to clients across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Our key resources include experienced, highly qualified and well-motivated staff, excellent IT facilities, specialist instrumentation, computational and simulation systems.

Our Style

We consider the client’s perspective in everything we do, ensuring that we deliver the best possible solution given each project’s parameters. We aim to not just deliver a solution, but also to educate our clients on acoustic issues, so that they understand how the solution was arrived at, and its implications for other aspects of their project.

Our Process

We believe in addressing potential acoustic issues as early as possible in the project lifecycle. Decisions around structural design, materials and surface finishes all play a role in determining a structure’s acoustics, making it critical to consider acoustic design and performance from the beginning.

Through the design process, we formulate acoustic guidelines to help the architect coordinate the acoustic performance of a building with the architectural design concept and the mechanical and electrical building services. As the design develops, we refine the acoustic details to balance technical performance and cost effectiveness.

For infrastructure or facilities projects, we can model acoustic emissions to assess the noise impact on the local community. If significant potential impacts are identified, we can investigate the benefit of mitigation measures to be included in the design.

We can examine the pros and cons of various types of noise mitigation measures, providing the project manager with the information and recommendations required to choose the best option based on effectiveness and financial viability.

Our Difference

BAP Acoustics is more than a service provider – we are your partner. Working alongside your team, we deliver the best possible acoustic engineering solutions to meet your budget, timeline and technical requirements. We integrate unparalleled technical expertise and experience with in-depth industry knowledge to produce the results you need for your project to succeed.

What can we do for you?

Architects and Designers

It’s never too early to consider acoustic implications in the design of a new project. We can come in at an early stage to provide acoustic engineering advice and simulation services. These will help you understand the available options and corresponding budget implications, whether it is for sound enhancement or noise mitigation.

Project Managers

Most projects are required to adhere to some form of acoustic regulation or noise bylaws. BAP Acoustics can help you understand how these issues can be addressed, and how the solutions will affect your design, build and operating processes. We will guide you through regulatory red tape related to acoustics and noise, and ensure that your project meets or exceeds any requirements, smoothing the way for successful project completion.

The next steps…

To find out more about our services, or to discuss your specific project requirements, the first step is to contact us.

We’ll then work with you to gain a full understanding of your needs and develop a proposal detailing how we can best serve you.

Mark GaudetMark is one of BC’s most knowledgeable and experienced acoustic consultants. Originating from the UK, he moved to Vancouver in 2006 following a period of employment with London-based multi-disciplinary practice Bickerdike Allen Partners (BAP) where he was an Associate. After a six-year spell with a local acoustic consultancy, together with partner Eric de Santis and BAP, he formed BAP Acoustics in 2012.During the course of his 30 year career, Mark has had the good fortune to be responsible for the acoustic design of several prestigious and challenging projects. These include the UK National Physical Laboratory, BBC Broadcasting House Redevelopment projects, Okanagan Correctional Centre in Oliver, BC, and Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford.Mark’s mantra is to offer effective, cost-sensitive and practicable advice to architectural design teams throughout all stages of design and construction.QualificationsB.Sc. Eric de Santis, PrincipalEric utilizes his unique skills in computerized acoustic simulation to provide specialist services in the prediction, assessment and control of noise in the outdoor environment. Following a period of post-graduate research into psychoacoustics at Aalborg University in Denmark, Eric moved to Vancouver in 2009 to focus on acoustic consultancy. He has since applied his expertise in noise propagation to the design of outdoor public warning systems, the development of specialized audibility detection software for the Defence Research and Development of Canada (DRDC) and the implementation of an acoustic rail condition monitoring service.Eric attributes his success in the consulting industry to his entrepreneurial spirit, his Saskatchewan work-ethic, and his obsession with problem solving.QualificationsB.Sc.
