Port Metro Vancouver

Port Metro Vancouver

Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) installed four permanent noise monitoring terminals (NMTs) along the South Shore Corridor in Vancouver. The NMTs were installed as part of the PMV Noise Monitoring Program, which was developed in an effort to gain a better understanding of existing noise conditions along the South Shore Corridor. The program was also developed to assist in the identification of specific noise problems and to assess the feasibility of operational improvements that may help to reduce noise received in the nearby community.

BAP Acoustics was commissioned by Port Metro Vancouver to propose locations suitable for the installation of the NMTs. The proposed NMT locations were selected to be representative of the noise climate at residences fronting the South Shore Corridor. The BAP team also conducted a noise monitoring trial run exercise at the proposed NMT monitoring locations.
