We are currently working with Perkins & Will Architects and UBC Properties Trust in the design of the new Gateway building. The building houses Kinesiology laboratories some of which contain force plates that are vibration sensitive to footsteps and other vibration sources on the same floor slab. We have used finite element analysis to inform our design work for the floor slab construction assemblies and supporting structures in order to limit the impact of footfall in the laboratories to the VC-C criterion as defined by ANSI S2.71 and ISO 2631.
